Just bought a 1/48 Revell model of the Ju 52/3M and the instructions state that it was developed from the 1930 single engined Ju 52/1M that it is still the largest single engined airplane in the world.

So was the Ju 52/1M the largest single engined aircraft in the world?

I know it wasn't the heaviest, I believe the F-105 takes that one?

The Ju 52 versions ranged to ~ 54-58ft.

The F-105G was 67 feet long and 54,000+ Max gross weight.

The B-17G and B-24H were 74 and 67 feet long respectively for comparison...

Suspect they meant 'piston' engine..

How about the ANT-25 for a recip aircraft?

Depends what you mean by largest. Wingspan? Length? Takeoff weight?

What about the Grumman Guardian? Wingspan is almost 61 feet. Max takeoff weight is over 25,000 pounds

What about this one?

I believe that is a 5 engined B-17 (testbed) that has had the four regular engines photo-shopped out. Where would the main landing gear be housed if the entire nacelles had been removed?

Look up Liberty Bell B-17 on wiki and you can see the original picture.

Here's another. Fairey Long Range Monoplane. (Kind of a generic name eh?)
