Sardinia has it's own language, completely different from Italian so, during WWI, the Sardinian Regiments were the only recruited on a regional basis and commanded by Sardinian Officers, unlike all other Italian regiments.

It all began in 1915 when two hundred Sardinian recruits, tired of being caught up in their language, their short height ( but stocky built..) and their clothes

by continental Italians, fought off a thousand of their continental comrades. A General thought that these talents could be well exploited in the war and as, expecially in those times (but even today), Sardinians have a good practice of firearms (game hunting is a very popular sport here...) Italian Army uses Sardinian Regiments like a sort of Gurkhas, from the WWI trenches

to Irak and Afghanistan today.

This is their hymn, which is, of course, sung in Sardinian language:

My translation

Drop your forehead stand up if you're sitting!
because it is passing the "Brigata Sassari"
boh! boh!
boh! boh!
and with the hand marks the best youth of Sardinia
We are the trace of that old people
that stopped the heart to the enemy
boh! boh!
boh! boh!
today their insignia is ours
for the honor of Italy and Sardinia
From the trench to Croatia
the "Sassarini" wrote the history
boh! boh!
boh! boh!
we follow their footsteps honoring their heritage
Red the heart and the soul like a lily
these colors adorn our banner
boh! boh!
boh! boh!
and strong as the nuraghe *
we are always careful to keep the peace
Our loyalty is not payed with the money
Come on! Devils!
Forward all together!

Avanti Fortza Paris!

"Stand Alone" original song by Kundo Koyama

Tiny stars shed the road we walked
Buds of our hope watched far away
In agony, we grasped strength to dream
With dignity, we left home aiming at the crowd

I now search for the road we walked
Days of my prayer connect our minds
To the sky, I extend hands to collect lights
With hope, I set them free wishing to see you
Leaving my endless thoughts to the wind for tomorrow

I believe and new days come
With dignity, we left home aiming at the crowd

Vapor Trail

There's a road,
a misty road
Leading up into heaven
She was walking,
all alone
Not a soul was around
There came a little wispy
cloud out the blue
And it carried her away
She's not afraid of anything
And she goes without a sound
She would gaze up at the sky
Dreaming that she's flying
so high
Then she was gone,
disappearing
Like a vapor trail
Yesterday, she lay in bed
In that lonely little room
From the window up above
All she would see were
the clouds
She was
so very so very very young
Such a long long road
ahead of her
But she heard
that voice a calling
And I guess she's happy now
She would gaze up at the sky
Dreaming
that she's flying so high
Then she was gone,
disappearing
Like a vapor trail
She would gaze up at the sky
Dreaming
that she's flying so high
Then she was gone,
disappearing
Like a vapor trail

"Spring in the North"

White birch, blue sky, south wind
The magnolias blooms in that hill in the North
Ah, Spring in the North
You won't feel the seasons in the big city
A small package arrived from Mom
Shall I go back to my hometown? Shall I go back?

Snow melts, a brook murmurs, a woden bridge
The larch's buds are coming out in the North
Ah, Spring in the North Counrty
We cound not say 'I love you'.
Five years have already passed since we were separated. How would she be doing now?

*Repeat

Yellow roses, morning mist, a watermill
A children's song is heard in the North Country
Ah, spring in the North Country
My big brother is quiet like my father
Are they often drinking together?

*Repeat

Unknown Far-east to West.

Moranbon Band in North Korea.
This band is so popular with Japanese girls that South Korean media introduces it with surprise.
No surprise because there are more North Koreans, originally Koreans from the north in the prewar, in Japan.

JP girls introduced in South Korea TV.

So Shin, what percentage of the population of Japan is comprised of Koreans? .... refugees?

On statistics, by June 2017
South Koreans: 484,627
North Koreans: 31,674

Naturalized: Estimated up to 1,000,000 but those who came to Japan as Japanese from the occupied Korea by 1945 are unknown. Estimated millions.

Totally occupies 3 to 5 percent of Japanese population.
Most of them live in Osaka and Tokyo.

* South Korean side says about 200,000 are taking Japanese nationality every year.
