Oh well, some news from the Chocolate soldier front anyway - the 2nd Guards were out in Edinburgh on the Royal Mile this weekend collecting for the Poppy Appeal. It was good fun, chatting to friendly Canucks and Americans about their own Veterans days (Canada has more or less the same arrangements), getting photographed by phalanxes of giggling Japanese girls and meeting a gorgious Russian devochka who told me that her great-grandfather fought in the Defence of Moscow.
Also it was fun to see the double takes people made at one of us who was in full Cossack rig, complete with birka woolen coat!
