It is interesting to note that before the addition of air conditioning there was no such thing as a "Summer Blockbuster". No one would be caught dead in the poorly ventilated theaters in the blazing heat of the summer, with the masses of stinking humanity.
Sure, so could you imagine going to the theater on a summer afternoon to watch a movie that lasted for an hour and a half while trying to enjoy hot popcorn, chocolate Milk Duds and a room temperature cola?

Just not going to happen - So with the advent of air conditioning, the movies got longer, the type (and nature) of snacks changed and even the drinks (chilled soft drinks) became defined to a degree that we'd recognize today.
