"They would then shoot the Fuhrer on his morning stroll from the Berghoff to a local teahouse.
"The Luger pistol, on display at a museum in England, was specially adapted by the secret service and was intended to be used in an audacious plot to kill the Nazi leader at his home in Bavaria.
"The assassination plan, codenamed Operation Foxley, was formulated in response to intelligence from a captured German guard."
