Painting jet exhaust nozzles. Meteor FIII

Any tips on painting the jet nozzles on a 1944 Meteor FIII. As the early jet engines were fuel guzzlers I am guessing it would be fairly sooty and black.
 
The pic shows that there was a ring of polished steel at the end of the exhaust while the entire exhaust nozzle looks matt. I would say a kind of matt grey steel. The nozzle interior should be of the same layout of colours. But I would suggest using of a burnt steel colour.
