The U.S. Navy minelayer USS Shawmut (CM-4) operating in the Caribbean in April 1924. To avoid verbal confusion with USS Chaumont (AP-5), it was renamed Oglala in January 1928.

Royal Air Force Operations in Malta, Gibraltar and the Mediterranean, 1940-1945. A Hawker Hurricane Mark I of No. 213
Squadron RAF based at Famagusta, banks away from the photographer's aircraft over the mountains of Cyprus.
Note the undersurface paint scheme used - with considerable variation - to identify operational RAF fighters in the early
years of the Second World War. In this case the aircraft's azure-blue undersurface has been augmented by painting the
port wing matt black.

A nice shot ... however I'm not sure if the undersides were of the azure-blue colour. IMHO it is of the Sky. The way of painting of the port wing undersides with the black was introduced on 27.11.1940 and was used to 22.04.1940. Earlier on 6.06.1940 the Sky became the colour for all bottom surfaces. IMHO the Hurricane is wearing the standard RAF temperate land scheme.
