In 1929 an Aeronáutica Militar CASA-built Bréguet XIX GR was scheduled to try a distance record via a direct flight between Seville and Rio de Janeiro. The plane and its crew, Captains Iglesias Brage and Jiménez Martín, took off from the Tablada Aerodrome in Seville on March 24, 1929. They landed at Bahia after a 43 hours and 50 minutes flight (6530 km); they didn't reach Rio due to lack of fuel caused by the high headwinds encountered. No record was established, but after the flight they travelled 15000 km over the American continent on a goodwill tour.
