IDK about modern times, but the Soviets tried it at least once, in ww2 and IIRC, once during Cold War.The parachute tank was implemented by the US and M-551 Sheridan. It didn't work. Any air dropped tanks were never used again. Or so I was told.
No more available at the moment but this space battleship Yamato would have been the final answer by Reiji Matsumoto (1938-2023) as a son of the war generation.Great stuff Shinpachi - more please
