On February 19, 1942, IJN task force and land-based bombers attacked Port Darwin to secure the Kupang airfield of Timor Island on the following day.

Flotille 12F is the unit designation.
12F19 is the plane number.
12F operated F4U7s from june 1953, exchanged them on may 1958 for AU-1s up to to august 1963 and then switched to the Vough F8(N) Crusader, certainly a great change for its pilots : new planes, new doctrine : from mud movers to interceptors.
The Crusaders were used up to december 1999 !

I'm wondering how many MiG-21s are available in Eastern Europe for drone conversion? Doesn't have to work very well. Just mix 'em in with other drone swarms. AAA fodder.
