Pilot decided to land on a pontoon that was designed for helicopters with skids. One wheel broke through the plywood deck so he decided to fly away. The wheel remained trapped by the plywood so the aircraft rolled. The wheel only broke free when he was way past recovery.

The 343rd did not apply tiger heads to all assigned aircraft, the practice appears to have been much more common earlier on. Here is a parking apron with a mix of markings TIME No morons were involved in the colorization of these pictures. They were taken by TIME-LIFE.

Which beast? T-6 in photo 1, NA-32 in photo 3, or the Japanese machine in photos 2 and 4 that looks similar at first glance but totally different when studied closer.

I double checked and the first one is NOT a T-6. Sure looks like one, but it is not.
