Don't leave us hanging, there's got to be an explanation for this.
I wish I knew for real, My guess, off the top of my head is they were experimenting with a way to secure and keep these large flying boats above high seas and wave damage. There are 2 boarding ladders one one each side that almost comes down to wave height. I picture a floatation platform with the 3 mounting verticals the platform is allowed to sink enough so the a/c is floating on its on and can move on. Coming back enough of the vertical mounts are above water to be able to maneuver the a/c over it settle itself over the v shaped cradle, platform rises and so does the a/c. Sounds like a lot to beat a weather problem when they could just fly out unless the a/c is a no go. somewhere to park the hanger queen when it gets windy.Don't leave us hanging, there's got to be an explanation for this.

That's actually very good.Where did you get the actual tin Foil? I heard from a good authority that when the aliens found out how tin foil placed in hats blocked their abilities to both read our minds and control our thoughts, they purchased ALCOA and substituted aluminum foil for tin foil, as aluminum foil actually enhances their abilities to control our thoughts. I was then introduced to the vast interstellar conspiracy to eliminate tin foil production on Earth!
The scariest thing was that the unnamed expert had both an A&P license, and a commercial pilots license.
