Ki-32 operating over China 1939-1940 with a flamboyant marking of an unknown unit, authors speculate it could be the 45 Hikō Sentai or 65 Hikō Sentai Katakana character of "Gi" MODE

Interestingly the fuselage hinomaru is on a white square but the wing markings are not. Don't remember seeing this combination on a different a/c.
