Great shot of the Ship my Father Carrier Qualified on in late 1942, they sure did a good job on hiding the side paddle wheels powering the two Lake Michigan based Training Carriers. My father would have flown an early SBD onto and back off the USS Wolverine. Can you see the lines of the original Luxury Lake Cruiser Seeandbee in the Wolverine?

Went to Belle Isle today and among other things Visited the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, had a pleasant surprise when I climbed into the old bridge of the old Laker William Clay Ford, our old friend the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Griffon. Hardly expected to see a Ship on the Detroit River today.

The a/c above is a PBM-5 (short carburetor intakes, different cowls) from VPB-21 - note the markings D6 with a white angle below. Check another PBM-5 from the same unit below:
