Here are some photos of the Lanc I was hoping was on that barge. Ground looped on Wallis Island in French Polonesia. I tried to get a team together to recover it in 1980 but could not get the financial backing needed. Wallis is in the middle of nowhere - it lies north of Tonga, northeast of Fiji, east of Fiji's Rotuma, southeast of Tuvalu, southwest of Tokelau and west of Samoa.

This Austin Motors made Lancaster (SN NX664) from Flotille 9S code W21 was accidented at Wallis on january 21, 1963 and left abandoned as ithe French Lancs were nearing retirement to be replaced by P2V7.
In May 1984, the association Ailes Anciennes, with logistical support from the French Navy had it repatrited in France to Le Bourget.
The Lancaster,is under restoration at Le Bourget but the association is plagued with funding problems to acquire parts.
