A few of those "Piper Cubs" are indeed Piper L-4 Grasshoppers. However, most are Aeronca L-3 Grasshoppers, and there is at least one Taylorcraft L-2 Grasshopper (furthest right in the photo). There may even be some Interstate L-6 Grasshoppers, though the quality of the picture makes it difficult to identify most individual aircraft.

BTW, the Waco CG-4 was named Hadrian in RAF service, but never officially named in USAAF service.

Evgeny Khaldei is a well-known Soviet photographer, not a pilot.

They did him dirty after the war, but then he wasn't the only one. He kept on taking pictures. He has a book I am going to look for. It looks interesting.

As far as I know, Khaldei himself didn't leave any memoirs, but he did keep a photo diary from the front lines. In any case, he is a legendary figure who fought his way through the entire war with his camera and took a large number of remarkable photographs.
I don't think anyone personally disparaged him or made any complaints against him - these were the demands of Soviet censorship, which was ashamed to publicize even minor acts of looting.

I don't know if anyone else finds this interesting, but I'll point out the presence of a gun camera mounted on top of the fuselage, just behind the pilot's cockpit which was a rarity at the time. It's also worth mentioning that a few minutes later, the airfield came under attack, and Khaldei was lucky that the MG fire whizzed past him just a few steps away. He was a damn risky guy.
