B-17Fs under conversion to YB-40s at Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1942

The b17 with tail code 25734; It served with the 92nd Bomb Group, 327th Bomb Squadron at RAF Alconbury. Was later transferred to the 91st Bomb Group, 323rd Bomb Squadron at RAF Bassingbourn.

Fate: After completing its combat trials in Europe, it returned to the United States in September 1944. It was ultimately sent to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in Ontario, California, where it was sold for scrap metal on May 18 1945.

A year into the Pacific War and she still has US ARMY under the wings .... interesting
They had more important things to do than keep up with the latest fashions. There was a war on!

Only the two nearest the camera, with the new sheet metal on top, were built.

Me 410....Seems even at this late in the war Staffel markings were still in vouge....any ID?
