VF-96 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) aboard the Constellation for a deployment to the Western Pacific and Vietnam from 1 October 1971 to 1 July 1972. The ocean escort USS Knox (DE-1052) is visible in the background.
