I loved the VC-10. I grew up near JFK (and NASNY). I would watch those beautiful VC-10s soar overhead. And they did seem to soar so I nicknamed them "dynasoars". Sort of a 13 year old's inside aviation joke.VC10 K2 accompanied by a VC10 C1 and a 23 Squadron Tornado F3 KEYP

I flew on BOAC VC-10s in the mid-70s. A little cramped but not too different from a 707.
I flew on RAF VC-10s with aft-facing seats, which used to be the norm, and was supposedly safer. The VC-10 was the fastest airliner in the world when Concorde was retired.

No. I let you tell me more. I enjoy learning from you. I see the photo. If if passes the cool factor, I post it. Any additional information is knowledge for me and our fellow cold war fans. Thank you for the expertise. It is appreciated. No comment on the Colonial Navy aircraft on the bow?![]()
This is an illusion caused by either a shadow from the gun barrel or a film/printing defect. This photo is shown in almost every source about the Tu-4 - at least, known to me, but none of them contain any confusion about the number of barrels of the dorsal turret.Interesting. I thought that the TU4 had twin 23mm in each of the gun positions. That top turret seems to have more than two guns.

Moreover, some Tu-4s were armed with 20-mm B-20 cannons.

"B-20 cannons were installed on airplanes up to #223201"I thought they were 23mm cannons?
From "Tupolev Tu-4: Soviet Superfortress", 2002 by Yefim Gordon and Vladimir Rigmant:Informative. I can't read cyrillic but if you say so, I believe my comet was more to standard armament but I haven't looked at a Tu-4 for a long time.
