I'm not sure, but I would guess that this is the 22nd IAP PVO (Air Defense fighter regiment), Bezrechnaya Airfield in Transbaikalia. I would appreciate it if someone could confirm or refute my hypothesis.

Now I'm suffering from PTSD. When I was a youngster just starting my aerospace career at the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk VA (long since closed) we were working mandatory 60-hour weeks, 10 hours Monday through Friday and 10 hours Saturday. Sunday was my only day off, and that area had Blue Laws in those days, so nothing was open on Sunday. Why all this overtime? Because when we finished our 8 hours on RF-8Gs (mostly) M-F, we shifted gears and worked another 2 hours on finding a way to convert a P-2 antisubmarine aircraft to a DP-2 drone controller like this one. And then all 10 hours on Saturday were DP-2 work. This was in the days before computers and so we had massive shelves of catalogs from parts suppliers, and a whole room full of blueprints that had to be searched one by one to find anything useful. I assume the group eventually succeeded but I gave up and took a salary cut to move to another employer in another state. Was this "our" DP-2? I don't know, but its BuNo is in the group that was converted, so it might well be. If it is, the illumination light on the pylon, aimed at the drone - that's my contribution!

By the way, I first read about this plane in the mid-1980s in this book when I was still in school. An excellent book - even considering the extremely sparse information on Soviet aircraft, which is, after all, understandable - the Soviets kept even what had long been known in the West under strict secrecy. Interestingly, German books from the GDR (DDR) contained a bit more information.
