M-61 Vulcan 20mm but that all over now! While stationed at Robins AFB, GA, we were on the back of the base (SAC side) and just maybe a 1:4 mile down from us was the Vulcan range. It was pointed out to me on my orientation but it was two years before I was subjected to its use. I was in the HQ building and all of a sudden this VERY LOUD burst happened, car alarms were going off, the window all flexed in and out and I was heading to the floor. Than it dawned on me what it was. Damn that was LOUD!
