I couldn't resist ordering me one of these today. Not sure what I'll do with it yet, but I'm pretty keen to go through through some other Spit kits in my stash as well to see how easy it would be to piece together a Mk.XIV from this PR.19 fuselage and a different set of wings. It seems Airfix at least captured the general sleek shape/look of the fuselage right (unlike the Academy kit which has a degree of chunkiness to it))

Good stuff Paul.
Fairly easy to make a MkXIV from the PR19 Jelmer - probably do it myself too. Just engrave the wings for the correct panels, add the cannon and blisters, remove the cabin pressurisation intake and the rear cockpit bulkhead, engrave a door and add a 'fighter' windscreen. I'm just in the process of doing this, having converted a Hobbycraft MkXIV to a PR19 - and now reversing the process!
I think Airfix will probably release a MkXIV in the not too distant future, so you could cross kit this, or the PR19, with the Mk22/24 to make a Mk21 as well.

Thanks for explaining the necessary steps in a nutshell Terry! This kit opens up a lot of new possibilities if you ask me now that there's at least an accurate basic fuselage to work with. Ofcourse scribing a few panel lines on the kit wings and the fuselage and such is a good option too. If Airfix don't release a MK.XIV soon I wouldn't be surprised if a simple conversion kit were to pop up down the line (maybe a few resin cannon blisters, a scribing template of sorts and an appropriate windscreen)

There are already suitable resin parts, and vac-formed canopies, for corrections or conversions of other Marks.
I've been using parts from the spares box, which are working out OK. Once I've got the rest of the BoB collection kits squared away, I'll be getting the PR19, maybe a couple, to convert to Mk21 and probably another MkXIV (first MkXIV conversion is 'in flight', for a boxed diorama - when I eventually get back to it!).

@ Airframes
Come to think of it, I already have all parts needed to convert a PR.19 to MK.XIV. I got this daco resin/white metal upgrade set laying around with cannon blisters, exhausts, and various things intended to spice up the Academy kit. Since I already busted the Academy kit while trying to fit the Daco replacement nose section...I'll probably just plunder the remains of the kit and use whater is usefull to convert the 'fix PR.19. The more I think about it, the more I look forward to start this project. Got a nice decals sheet to use for it too

Great buys Paul. I bought my 24D to model an assembly ship and I'm still trying to find a 601sqd winged sword for my P-39. Sitting in my grader last night(after grading the same 10kms for the sixth night) and fighting major boredom, I ordered these two kits.....

....and if there is any management from the mine reading this, I did not order these while sitting in my grader last night.
