Geo, if you need to make a camera port transparency for a Spitfire (or Mosquito) in 1/48th scale, then the average paper punch, used for punching holes in sheets inserted in loose-leaf 'ring' binders, is ideal. Just punch out discs from thin clear sheet, and the 'holes' from 'solid' plastic sheet, cutting the latter to the size and shape of the hatch - works perfectly.
 
Holey bat-punch Terry, what a great idea. However, my punch is 7mm which is the size of the hatch. A quick look on line came up with this: hole sizes from 2mm-4.5mm, the last one being the size I need.

Yep, a turret punch is a very handy piece of kit. The punch I actually meant was one of those small desk punches, like this one shown below, but the turret punch is much more versatile, and easier to align.
An inexpensive set of hollow punches, as shown, can also come in useful.
