Just registered at Hannants, not for the reasoning of purchasing said Defiant. Had a quick shufti around the site looking for shipping prices, just in case I accidentally logged onto my Paypal account, but couldn't find anything. Though not quite accurate, I trolled the interwebs for prices from the UK to Canader and was stunned, stunned I tells ya. Has anyone shipped a kit across the pond and if so, how much?

Geo

George I shipped to Wojtek a kit that was brutal punishment and I got a Nice Yak I have not built yet But I cannot remember the cost just did not seem like much $10-15

Yeah George, it's weird, I get something from Canada to here in the states and it's expensive. Get something shipped from Like the Ukraine or the Netherlands and it seems reasonable. I can't figure it out my friend!?!?!

Just had a look Geo, should be around £7, which is about the same as it cost me to send a kit to Wayne recently !

Yep, shipping from the UK to Canada, for a package the size of the Defiant kit, should be around the £7 to £8 mark.
Coming from Canada to the UK, it would be almost twice that - and of course HM Customs would then charge VAT (tax) at 20%, having read the value, in Canadian Dollars, as British Pounds and then multiplied by ten !
So Geo, once you've accidentally completed registration, and accidentally ordered the Defiant, and when you accidentally get the invoice, let us know what the shipping ended up as .......

Yeah, that's when you say "Forget it!".
I received a magazine - type book today, sent from France, with the charge in postage costs shown as 0.87 Euros (65 Pence), but compare that to sending a similar-sized package to a friend in the south of England recently, which cost £1.95 !!!
Average charge (including packaging) for kits being sent within the UK is around £3.50 to £4.50, and that can be for a fairly large (but light) package, so I suppose a charge of around £7 to send the same package to Canada is fairly reasonable.
Royal Mail charge scales changed a couple of years back, and are somewhat crazy at times - a small package, say 4 x 8 x 2 inches, but weighing maybe 9 oz, can cost twice as much to send as a model kit, package size maybe 12 x 10 x 2 inches, weighing 8 oz !!
And as Glenn pointed out, packages from China and Hong Kong can be quite large, but cost a fraction of the Royal Mail charges for a similar package !!
