Jim, Airfix released a 'new tool' 1/72nd scale Defiant last year. Their new 1/48th scale kit is 'scaled up' from this, with more refined detail, but the 1/72nd kit looks great, and I'd guess it's the best around.
The Italeri Stirling Mk1 is a very nice kit (got one to do for a commission for a small museum), and as it was released in the UK only about 5 or 6 months ago, I would think it should be in the USA very soon - if Italeri decide there's a market for a British bomber in the 'States, of course.

I know it's all about planes on here, but these recently arrived from one of my favorite stateside hobby shops (Omni Models of Champaign, IL) and I am pretty excited about them. Can't decide which to do first.
