What the BF-110 lacked in capabilities was more than made up for in beautiful lines.

I'll just leave this here......except if you are flying in combat!
Claims are exactly that, claims, not necessarily actuals. I highly recommend the series of books, 'The Battle of Britain Combat Archive' by Simon Parry, published by Red Kite. It gives a day-by-day account of each combat, with the losses and claims for both sides. What will become quickly apparent is that both set of fighters overclaimed in roughly equal measure, so the 'claims-to-loss ratio is pretty accurate, as examined in great detail by Christer Bergström for his book. There are still many (not you, Capt.) who still see the Battle of Britain as some kind of knightly jousting in the air. The reality was quite different - get in quick, shoot the hell out of your opponent, and get away quick before someone else does the same to you. But overclaiming became greater the larger the formations that locked horns.Well shut my mouth...define claims though. Especially the German ones over Britain.
The other series by Red Kite is 'Luftwaffe Crash Archive' which covers all of the Luftwaffe a/c that came down in the UK from 1939 to 1945, so yes, the BoB Combat Archive is Battle of Britain-specific and covers both sides. Here's some sample pages from the publisher's website:That's different from the series about the luftwaffe planes shot down during the battle of Britain right?
Awe crud! Another series I have to buy! Maybe my kids don't have to go to college. The other series by Red Kite is 'Luftwaffe Crash Archive' which covers all of the Luftwaffe a/c that came down in the UK from 1939 to 1945, so yes, the BoB Combat Archive is Battle of Britain-specific and covers both sides. I should warn you though, Capt., once you buy one volume, you'll be hooked. You'll just have to get the next one, and then the next one, and then the next one...Awe crud! Another series I have to buy! Maybe my kids don't have to go to college.

I saw pictures of my grandfather working on the Yorktown and Enterprise when I was younger. He told me he had just returned to San Francisco on the 7th. Just missed being there for the war. I sure wish it could have gotten those pics.Favourite aircraft carrier you ask?

Nice! Both the Folgore and the Falco are on my current wish list. Just need to sneak them past SWMBO....It's been a busy time. Where too start??
The Folgore was a package deal with a B5N2 for a sweet price as was the Falco. Mine doesn't mind too much. I have a harder time justifying all of the boxes full of kits....to her. I don't think I have ever run across so many sealed kits in life.Nice! Both the Folgore and the Falco are on my current wish list. Just need to sneak them past SWMBO....
