Well shut my mouth...define claims though. Especially the German ones over Britain.
Claims are exactly that, claims, not necessarily actuals. I highly recommend the series of books, 'The Battle of Britain Combat Archive' by Simon Parry, published by Red Kite. It gives a day-by-day account of each combat, with the losses and claims for both sides. What will become quickly apparent is that both set of fighters overclaimed in roughly equal measure, so the 'claims-to-loss ratio is pretty accurate, as examined in great detail by Christer Bergström for his book. There are still many (not you, Capt.) who still see the Battle of Britain as some kind of knightly jousting in the air. The reality was quite different - get in quick, shoot the hell out of your opponent, and get away quick before someone else does the same to you. But overclaiming became greater the larger the formations that locked horns.

That's different from the series about the luftwaffe planes shot down during the battle of Britain right?
The other series by Red Kite is 'Luftwaffe Crash Archive' which covers all of the Luftwaffe a/c that came down in the UK from 1939 to 1945, so yes, the BoB Combat Archive is Battle of Britain-specific and covers both sides. Here's some sample pages from the publisher's website:

Awe crud! Another series I have to buy! Maybe my kids don't have to go to college.

I should warn you though, Capt., once you buy one volume, you'll be hooked. You'll just have to get the next one, and then the next one, and then the next one...

I feature in the credits as 'Specialist Contributor (Luftwaffe)' in each volume. But my contribution is small compared to the vast amount of information that is contained in each one.

Do you not have the ability to access the military photo archives for the US Navy. Over here the Australian War Memorial has a huge archive the anyone can access on the web, one may have to plough through a huge data file but what a joy it would be if you turned up trumps.

It's been a busy time. Where too start?? Also went out and purchased decals to make them into what I envisioned when I purchased them. The two 1/48 are my specials as one is going to be a Regia Aeronautica aircraft and the other one of the Fliegerfuhrer Irak aircraft sent to Iraq.

Nice! Both the Folgore and the Falco are on my current wish list. Just need to sneak them past SWMBO....
The Folgore was a package deal with a B5N2 for a sweet price as was the Falco. Mine doesn't mind too much. I have a harder time justifying all of the boxes full of kits....to her. I don't think I have ever run across so many sealed kits in life.
