I remember once or twice, he mentioned that site, but i refused to join for personal reasons, lets just keep it short, I live in Iran.
I wish sooner or later, we would have freedom of sharing our beliefs or lack of it, without fear for our lives in Iran and other Islamic countries.

I hear you, friend. Whenever we get some new member from an oppressive theocracy we always warn them to clear their cache and history. It sucks. And Thump always agreed and he lived in Texas which certainly has its share of christian nut jobs.

I just went to post in a discussion thread and hoped to hear his take on it. This is shocking and saddening. Thump was a great poster and excellent resource on aviation. I always assumed he did maintenance and maybe had a pilot's license. Crushing loss. Hope you are all in good health and are otherwise happy.

Artesh, he was so deeply influenced by his time in your country. I came over from that other forum to say this and to acknowledge your loss, all of our losses. He wrote well about his time there.

I am a civilian pilot and WW2 enthusiast, son of a Marine in the 4th Division. Dad's favorite plane was the Corsair, as they provided close air support at Iwo Jima. For him it was personal.

Sorry for late answer! Thank you for you kind words and welcome aboard. His loss, was something very personal, for me... regarding time frame and situation i read about his passing (Internet shutdown by regime), it felt very heartbreaking that even i didn't have time to say a proper goodbye to him.
Sometimes i run out of words... i know what i want to say, but cant find proper words for it... this topic was / is one of them.
May his soul rests in eternal peace.
None of us have been able to say goodbye. This just came out of the blue for me and I think for other members as well.
In the years on this forum I've seen quite a few members "checking out". It's never been easy.

Thumps and I shared an appreciation of rock music. We had some great chats about guitarists and bands; and I had a long list of topics I would have loved his opinion on. Chats that will not happen now .....
