BL479 was "owned" by G/Cpt M.W.S.Robinson, Northolt Station Commander, which explains the showroom finish and lack of any chessboards.

BL479 was a Spitfire VB L.F with clipped wings which, with the low blown Merlin 45 or 50 series engine, produced a fighter mediocre above 20.000 feet, but formidable at low level.
