A welcome image, often seen online without much commentary. When I started the Osprey TBD Units project, I suspected but did not know that Douglas applied the original squadron markings. Photos certainly removed any doubt!

TBDs narrowly beat SB2Us into service as the first USN carrier monooplanes, both in '37.
