This year mark the 60th anniversary of the T28 Trojan designed and built by North American Aviation, initially for the USAF, then upgraded by the USN for aircraft carrier qualifications training.
The T28 was the last of the big radial engine trainers transitioning the militiary into the jet age. T28's also served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, and Laos, playing a significant role as a combat fighter and bomber.
The display features outstanding photographs by Paul Baca, Eric Van Gilder and "Bucky" Lawson. The exhibit was organized by Helen Murphy, an American Airlines DFW-based Flight Attendant and retired Captain Chip Lamb, who flew AA 767s internationally. Captain Lamb founded and oversees the T28 Trojan Foundation; whose mission is to promote the T28 Trojan aircraft as living history.
There will be a mass-formation flight of T28 aircraft performing July 29 at AirVenture in Oshkosh, wisc., to celebrate the 60th anniversary along with keynote speaker Robert "Bob" Hoover for the evening's Warbird in Review event.
