1942: Fw-190 A-4
1943: P-51C
1944: Fw-190 Dora-9
1945: Ta-152H-1 (Would've picked the ME-262 if it wasn't for its engine reliability issues)

ease up turbo its to hard to pick just one. There are so many variables.:D :D

Yeah your right.

1940 - Bf109E, Spitfire Mk 1, Buffalo, Spitfire Mk 2, He-111
1941 - Fw-190A, Bf109F, Zero, Spitfire Mk5, P-40 Warhawk
1942 - Fw-190A4, Spitfire Mk XI, Bf-190G-4, Wildcat, Aircobra
1943 - Corsair, Lightning, Hellcat, Mustang, Thunderbolt, La-5, Fw-109 A5
1944 - FW-190 Dora, Tempest, P-51D, P-47D, LA-7, Bf109-K, B-17
1945 - Me262, Ta-152, F4U-4, B-29, P-47N

Oops, I just listed every significant airplane produced. Kinda took the fun out of picking just one!

I'm just messin' with ya Watanbe. (Dont blast me too hard) :) I know it's hard to pick just one due to so many different factors....and sadly I still left out a bunch of planes.

Its all good I know. There are so many different things and of course personal preference, I think you have also missed a few on ur list:D :D

Mossie and Beaufighter?

hehe

Can I remind all you that state the war from 1940 - 1945 ... that it started in 1939! And the Chinese would even say it started in 1931.

My list :

1939 - Bf-109E
1940 - Bf-109E
1941 - Bf-109F-4
1942 - Fw-190A
1943 - F-4U
1944 – P-47D
1945 - Me 262

Those are the BEST, not the more IMPORTANT ones. The Mustangs was probably THE most essencial and decisive plane in the last two years of the war...

A personal comment: I feel the Thunderbolt is being overlook here . It was the best in 44 and would had stayed the best in 45 if it wasn´t for the jets...
