In an article written by Walter J Boyne in May 1940 Goering orded all research into jet engines to be stopped.But the thing is of course, by 1944 it's way too late for the Germans. Stalingrad and Second El Alamein are both in late 1942. They need a bomber (and an at least medium-range fighter) by that time, or not very long after.
Could the jets have really been made ready for large scale tactical and operational use, in any role, in early 1943? Was it just politics that slowed their arrival or technical problems with turbines etc.?
