Not sure which ones you need.
Most commonly used were GP - General Purpose, MC - Medium Capacity, HC - High Capacity. There were many more specialised bombs, SAP - Semi Armour Piercing or AS - Anti-Submarine for example. There were many pyrotechnic devices, usually lumped under the heading TI -Target Indicator. Sometimes you will see 'Incendiary' abbreviated to INC.
In WW1 and the interwar years some bombs were simply classified HE - High Explosive and you will see sub-designations like RL-Royal Laboratory (Woolwich) or 'Hale' which is obviously some bloke's name (Martin Hale who designed the bombs in question, they were dropped on 'Zeppelins').
An example of this British military jargon would be "Bomb HE, RL, 112lb Mk 1". I'm amazed anyone knew what they were talking about
By WW2 things had been simplified to the weight, type and Mark of the ordnance.
Resurrecting this old thread, I posted a related topic here and used the pic of the twin 500lb MC bombs shown in post #35 to see if I could get details of the bomb carrier used in that pic. The plates riveted to the carrier are throwing me off and I wonder if the pic is of an experimental mod or a standard fit? Perhaps Wwuzak
can chime in.
