Whoever made that list and ranking would seem to be a member of the press. When it comes to aviation, the press seems to have the collective mentality of a box of rocks.

If they balanced his brain on the edge of a razor blade it would look like a BB rolloing down a 4-lane highway. He even called a Hispano Ha.1112 a Bf 109!

WW2 was six years for the Brits, Italians and Germans and just over three and half years for the Japanese and USA (and eight years for the Chinese). If we stick to six years from the invasion of Poland to VJ Day that's a huge span in technology, where many of N NVSMITH's website did not enter service until well into the war. And since when is the Ilyushin Il-2 a fighter?

Spitfire and Hurricane arguably saved a nation, while the Mustang made strategic bombing possible. The Zero, Fw190 and Bf 109 all failed to achieve victory, while victory was already pretty much assured by the time the P-47 and Hellcat arrived.

WW2 was more like 8 -14 years for Japan if you count China, which I think they and their neighbors would...
