Apparently it's now normal to remove regimes you don't like by military force, something Russia has been trying for the last 4 years. This should scare all of us.

Between Putin, Xi, and this, I think what we're seeing, in real-time, is the collapse of the UN system. Not to say it hasn't been tottering for the last two decades, but between Ukraine, Chinese soft-aggression in the western Pacific, and now this, this rather strikes me as a death-knell for the founding principles of the UN.

The UN has been dead since the Korean War. That is the last time they acted.

Please do not dictate to us how to do our job. You would not like that if we did that to you right?

We will moderate the forum per the forum rules. Rules that everyone has agreed to.

We allow political discussion that does not devolve into the left vs.right BS filled with insults, division, personal attacks, attacks against the left or the right. This is so that we can keep the peace here.

If you cannot post in a thread without posting partisan rhetoric then don't post in that thread. There are plenty of other threads you can post in.

Actually, it's called grown-up conversation where we can debate a current affairs topic without it devolving into partisanship.

This is an international forum. I can assure you that non-US members here are really tired of the Republican/Democrat verbal volleyball.

This event raises much bigger questions about the legality of regime change, validity of Venezuela as a target compared to other drug-producing countries, whether removing Maduro will do anything to change things (given th high likelihood of rife corruption at all echelons in his regime), and th whole question of what happens next.

The UN has exactly as much real power as the US wanted it to. Give the five major powers veto over any action, what does one expect? Remove that veto, and how many actions by any of those five are actively opposed?

Need to remember what companies went in and bought/paid to make those oil fields and refineries it was Exxon,Chevron and I am sure others who lost all with arrival of Chavez.We(USA/Oil companies) were asked to come in by the prior government to assist the country to get the oil out of the ground.
