I had to repair an Ercoupe wing in 68 that had a mouse nest that had corroded out a lump of spar just outboard of the gear.
A guy who lived near St. Augustine told me that he was fixing up am Ercoupe, S/N 413, 100 numbers ahead of mine and was puzzled why he could not get the center section spar cleaned up down to bare metal. Then he realized the reason why. Corrosion had created a sizeable hole in the spar and someone had "repaired" it with Bondo. He said he felt so sick he had to go in the house and go to bed.

Fortunately he had another entire Ercoupe fuselage available for parts and he ended up taking the whole lower center section off and installing it on S/N 413. Now, THAT would be a job!

That Ercoupe ended up coming to our airport for a few years.

An AC43-13 repair may have been easier but not knowing exactly where on the spar it was damaged may have made it harder. If the spar cap was badly corroded that is a whole different ball game as the remaining area would be fatigued and his was the only safe repair.

True and if the damage was out in the area of the MLG attachment I don't think there was a thing he could have done that would have been legal and probably not safe no matter how overbuilt, either.

Freaking brainless petty governments.

EDIT - given May is a musician the Slim Dusty song Big frogs in little puddles is an appropriate theme for this post. The Tom in the song discovered one of Australia's biggest iron ore concentrations.

Another blowout with my kid telling me what I can and can't do in my own house. Then she went across the street to hear the same from her mom, so she came back home. After a long day with clowns, I don't need that from one of my own.

I'm annoyed that the state's database has my home listed as being in a different city. Every time I renew my licence or vehicle registration it comes up wrong. I know how they F-ed it up, but no one can fix it.
Screwed up my wife's name, too. Took several in person visits with multiple documents to prove that her name was really spelled that way. But the database didn't match, so we must be wrong. Incompetence!

The f.king cruise boat with the Hantavirus outbreak is going to muy home town thanks to the spanish gov and the WHO. The medical officer of the boat had already been evacuated to a hospital today where my oneless kidney father is due to various appoinments this friday.

I hope something had been learned from the COVID-19 but I dubt very much.

In the old days they would have to anchor at sea until everybody recovered or died. Progress.

Just woke up from a very disturbing nightmare.
I had to escape Queens, NY and get to my apartment in Hewlett, Long Island. From there, get to Thailand, where I'd be safe. Memory loss figured prominently.
Never been so glad to wake up. In Thailand and not in a subway station.

Hmmm. Sounds like the memory wipe is beginning to fade. Beware of black helicopters.

At least your local government is trying to keep you all safe. How much attention Madrid pays is going to be interesting.

Sure. They are trying but the central government isn't. Just political decision making. Elections in Cabo Verde Islands. Also elections in Andalucía were more specialized units for contagious diseases are and were the former vicepresident is the central government candidate (with very bad proyections). The Canary Islands regional government ruled by a nationalist party and the main oposition party in the nation.

Make your guess.
