Hey, I could use a nap as well. They do frown upon that while at work though.
I remember long ago in my kindergarten days when the teacher would turn out the lights and we were all told to put our heads on out desks for 15 minutes or so. Now that I think about it I'm not sure that was for us kids to get a rest, or for the teacher to get one. Probably a little of each.

Then sat down and watched The Storm lose, while I sucked down some Teriyaki Chicken & go-han.
Now I'm kickin' back to the Big Ten Track & Field Championships...but I think I've seen this before, so I might watch something else in a while.

I'm just one guy, so I normally don't need to buy much. Sometimes the supplies get away from me, then its a major haul.
Today it was 2 insulated bags of refrigerated/frozen goods. 3 gallons distilled water and a box of dry goods.

Wednesday I loaded the 2' rips of 1/4" steel on the trailer, a bundle of 3x6 deck timbers for the landing, a bundle of S4S 5/4 x 4 VG fir boards for rails and balusters.
Then I picked up $2300 of steel for making rails on the new house decks and balcony.
I will tack the steel to the trailer for my welding work table.

Drove 110 miles to the new house, and backed It under the carport and leveled it so I can use a level while fabbing. I'll build the rails there, fit them, sandblast and paint.

the 3x6 are for the landing for the timber stairs to the sundeck.

That was last weekend.

Yesterday I got quotes for the double check and PRV for the water service and talked with the local welding supply about buying a tank and supplies for the fab work.
Today I came back south and borrowed my friend's dump trailer so I can haul my 20" vintage band saw, 60 gallon 6 horse upright compressor, and drill press back up there Monday.
The Rockwell Delta saw when I picked it up.

It measures 79" now. I will build a caster base that is underslung and hopefully keep it around 80"
It will be a one way trip into the basement. The opening is 82" now before installing the VG Fir french doors in the hole. They are ready.

The whole thing. It is in the final phases and we hope to occupy it by the end of August.
I put the solar panels on the standing seam roofing a few weeks after the roof was done.

I'll keep the posts about it to a dull roar.

If you are geeky, the house has lots of geeknoid features.
1) 3500' of 3/4 PEX tubing buried in the spoils from the excavation for a pair of Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP)
2) I was acutely aware of mobility questions as we age. My BIL was a fireman who was injured and in a wheelchair 47 years. I designed the house around an open shaft for a platform lift.
3) the initial 14.7KW of solar panels and hybrid inverter were what I could fit on the SW facing roofs, which are wider than the NE roofs specifically to add more area for solar.
4) one of the heat pumps is a water-to-water inverter that supplies warm service water to ~3800' of 3/8" PEX underfloor tubing for hydronic radiant heating.

Lots of pretty lights and copper tubing in the equipment room.

We have 1 to 1 net metering and the system has exported 3.8 MW of juice for the coming winter in the last two billing cycles.

Actually, right now, I'm practicing for an important meeting with an investor who is also a massive fan of stones! It's planned for Wendsday, around 11 am.

The other day I was out in my front yard a little before sunset, contemplating the deficiencies in the landscaping, when a young lady rolled up on a bicycle. She asked me about my Toyota pickup truck, saying she is an admirer of the Tacoma and buys older ones to be repaired, rebuilt and sold. She said she even had bought and fixed up one with 400,000 miles on it. She had noticed mine does not get driven very much. I told her the year, mileage and features. She replied, "A 1999, four cylinder, stickshift, 4 wheel drive, extra cab, looking that good and with less than 100,000 miles? That would go for $15,000, easy."

I paid $21,000 for that truck in 1999.

I need to finish getting that 1997 Celica I have in the garage repaired and back on the road. The Tacoma is too expensive to be just driving around. And I need to rearrange the garage to be able to put the Tacoma in it.
