Yeah. Living out of a suitcase is never fun even tho others are jealous of you.
I was wrong: it was 10 countries in 3wks. And yes, it is not fun. Anyone who thinks it is has never done it for any length of time. I try to take advantage of my time in places to visit aerospace museums if I get a chance (see recent photos I have posted elsewhere on the forum) but that is a small benefit that does not outweigh the rest. I am home for 4wks now before flying out again in June. Sigh…

I grew up with dad doing a similar thing....Phone call comes in and two hours later we're taking him to the airport for an unknown trip length...He probably had more than a million actual miles in the air by the time he retired the 1st time. Longest distance trip I can remember, was when he first moved to a subsidiary of the company. 7 countries and 3 circuits of the Earth on that first trip, lasting about 9 weeks... Longest trip he ever did, was a commissioning trip to a new company facility outside of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, around 1967 and it lasting about 7 months.
The engineering group he was part of were as hard core road warriors as a lot of military people in those days.
I have done a few 5wk trips where the longest I was in any one place was 2days (in some cases I was in places < 24hrs). Wouldn't want to do a 9wk one unless I was in one place for there entire time.

Being a road warrior is a hard life for most people. Away from home and family and friends for varying intervals and trying to function in different cultures. I did some traveling for a couple of jobs I used to have and even though I generally was in the US, it was still hard. Dad was pretty mild mannered, but had an iron butt when it came to traveling for work.... (Bike riders will know the reference....

I did two and a half years away from home base with never more than a couple of weeks in any one location. The longest five years of my life. Met some great people and saw some great things but never again.

I am glad that is not infectious over the internet because that is one really scary condition with far too many causes. Best wishes for his continuing and permanent recovery.

1/2 day of work today, then off to the north woods of Minnesota for a week to do some turkey hunting and fishing, and a few cocktails around the campfire in the evenings.

Yeah, it is one of those days, very cold (19C) and windy and miserable so I know how you feel but it is still better than looking at that box lid from inside the box so that thought will do for me.

Changed beneficiaries so my children get what is to come when I am gone. My MIL asked me if I was okay, I told her I just wanted to make sure my kids get what I have earned after I am gone.

Just heard from my #2 son.
He just completed his EIB course. 22 completed the course out of the 200+ that started with him.

Did something similar with my daughter. I wanted to show her something special and texted, "Are you sitting down?" Two seconds later, the wife's phone rang and it was the daughter screaming, "What's wrong, what's wrong?"
