What were they used for... and what paint schemes were they painted into?
A T-6 Texan modified into a taxi trainer at NAS Corry Field, Pensacola, in the 1950s. with a checkerboard style of colors with yellow and black and with a additional landing wheel on the nose of the aircraft.

Off the top of my head, they were used by new pilots to get used to handling aircraft on the ground. I've seen another photo of a different trainer and it had its wings shortened making it impossible to get airborne. I'll see if I can find it. It did have a different paint scheme
