Hi All: I am researching doing a 1/6 scale static model of Lt. Bob Hanson's F4U-1A for a museum in Denver. Some drawings (haven't seen any photos of it yet) show the tailhook attached, others seem to have it removed. Does anyone know if these planes, or this particular one had the tailhook removed since they were flying off land at the time?

I really love these threads, and the magnificent work on these models people like Dave did on his Corsair. It is a great way to learn more about modeling and history, too!
