The assembly and paint is done. Keeping to the retro build theme, painting is by brush and masking only, and kept to a minimum by preserving the air superiority grey the model is cast in. I used testor's glue and gaps were filled in with lepage's clear wood glue. One concession I made to modern builds was using tamiya acrylic paints.

Final shots of the build with decals and three coats of brushed on future. One decal broke up due to micro cracking but I did scan the originals so I can try to print off a replacement. I like the Air National Guard decal on the tail. Overall it was a lot of fun to build and I hope you enjoy results as much as I do.

Nice work!

When I built that kit back in the late 60's I made two improvements. The nose did not look right so I took a .50 cal bullet and pushed it through a hot piece of Mattel Vac-U-Form plastic to make a new one. And I wanted the tall tail version of the airplane so I used the spare wing from an IMC Mig-21 kit to make a new tail.

We had 102's about 15 miles from our house so we occasionally git to see them come over. And that ANG base hosted a bunch of boy scouts one Sunday and we got a ride in their C-54 and to see F-102's really close up.
