Probably better off hand painting them. Look at the 2s on the first four tanks, all slightly different so no one would begrudge your numbers as long as they are close to the style (present company excepted of course)
 
Yep.. the numbers were hand-painted with a brush. So it would be fine to make them in the same way. :) It isn't any trouble in the 1/35 scale.
 
Bell-Atlanta B-29-15-BA Superfortress, 42-63413. Delivered to USAAF on 30th of August '44. Departed CONUS for PTO, arrived in Saipan on the 29th of October '44.
Named 'Dixie Darlin''.
497th BG, 871st BS, "Dixie Darling" ditched from unknown cause in the Pacific Ocean on the 18th of December '44 while on mission to Mitsubishi aircraft factory at Nagoya, Japan.
MACR 10657.
All 11 crew killed. Witnesses stated the aircraft made the normal turn toward home base after the bomb run, but was never seen again.
 
Bell-Atlanta B-29-15-BA Superfortress, 42-63513. Delivered to USAAF on the 30th of November '44. Assigned to 505th Bomb Group and 877th Bomb Squadron, then 499th Bomb Group in January '45.
Named 'Ramp Queen' (499th BG).
MIA on the 26th of '45 after a raid on Tokyo, Japan.
 
Martin-Omaha B-29-10-MO Superfortress, 42-65213 Delivered to USAAF on the 29th August '44. Departed CONUS for CBI on the 11th September '44.
Named 'Carla Lani – Battle Baby' (462nd BG, 770th BS) disintegrated in midair over Lashani, China on the 7th of December '44. All 11 crew killed.
The aircraft was returning to India after a mission to Mukden, Manchuria. It had just taken off from Kiunglai, China on a ferry mission to Piardoba, India with 17 men on board. It started to pick up ice at 4,500 feet but continued to climb to an altitude of 10,600 feet. By this time the aircraft had picked up so much ice that it could climb no further. The pilot tried to make a turn to return to base at which time it went into a flat spin, and began to disintegrate in midair.
Official cause of accident listed as excessive icing conditions.
 
Consolidated B-24J-1-CO Liberator, 42-73013 (431st BS, 11th BG) crash-landed on reef off Majuro Atoll in the Marshall Islands after attack by enemy aircraft on the 29th of December '43.
MACR 1627
Crew apparently captured but never heard from again.
The wreck is still there.
 
Republic P-47D-20-RE Thunderbolt, 42-76513 (511th FS, 405th FG, 9th AF) shot down by Fw 190A-8 belived flown by Lt Eickhoff of JG 2/2 at Chartres, 15 mi E of Dreux, France on the 14th of August '44.
MACR 8504.
Pilot MIA and fate unknown.
