I decided "scratchbuilding" is when you make something that looks like it should. I don't scratchbuild, I "fashion" which is when you McGyver it. It's the general shape, and it's not offensive when you stand really far away and close one eye.
Going for the field paint job as this will be mid 1944, and the paint jobs on 265 were pretty rough based on photos I've seen on j-aircraft. That's why i'm doing the oversray vs clean seperation. Ended up doing a Dark green base coat in wheel wells then top coat of White Ensign Model enamel aotake. Time to bust out the Wayne Little weathering guide and start getting to work.
Finished my first model...suffice it to say my ambitions were greater than my skills. If the damn snow would stop I could get it outside for some pics. Hopefully tomorrow.
Tried to resize and this was as small as I could get them. Hopefully they are not too big, if they are I apologize. I know I overdid it on the wash, Based on some of the pics I had I thought the paint chipping was OK (except for the fabric covered spots that mysteriously have aluminum under the paint)
