I had the Skyrocket - II. There is an interesting story about why it was the II.

I want to get the Orbital Rocket. Monogram re-released the Suborbital version, which was supposed to be a high speed airliner, and I have one of those, but not the orbital one.

The USAAF wanted a rocket plane to investigate supersonic flight. NACA wanted a jet, figuring it would be less challenging. While the USAAF had the XS-1 (later called the X-1) built (by the way, first flight was at Orlando) the USN decided to follow the NACA approach and had Douglas build the D588-1, a straight wing jet, which, by the time it was built, wasn't really significantly faster than other jets. The USAAF was right. Next came the D588-2, a combined jet and rocket. I found many simularites between the conficts between the USAAF and NACA and those between the USAF and NASA.
