The basics of the AM P-51 (no suffix) & RAF Mustang IA kit - with the reissues as a F-6A variant - were reasonably close to the mark, with a couple of exception areas. Key one was in respect to the propellor which they depicted a 'facsimile' of the later style broad chord propellor blade as introduced on the A-36A and P-51A, not the correct narrow profile prop blade. Ultracast do a replacement prop blade set for both Allison Mustang styles - early narrow and later wide chord blades.

The interior is fairly basic and only reflects one version of the radio/battery fitout behind the cockpit that applied to some of the USAAF Allison Mustangs, not the RAF ones or all the USAAF ones, and they didn't include any seat back armour in any of the releases.

Ultracast do some good resin extras including various versions of the exhausts - early tubular ejectors and two styles of 'flared' exhausts; along with a couple of wheel/tyre tread type variants eg block, diamond; as well as the early style seats with one version with moulded in US style harness.

There are reports from some modellers that the later releases, some where AM in their 2nd iteration, was using mouldings to hand/in stock, possibly an error when boxing kits, included the wrong nose mouldings eg F-6A kits had the P-51A nose, F-6B kits had the P-51 nose, so had the wrong style carburettor intake for the intended Mustang sub-variant.

Also, usual caution about their instructions, main inner gear doors up and latched on the ground, not down and extended - Allison engine Mustangs had a different main inner gear door locking arrangement compared to some of the later Merlin engine models.

Received some new model-ads from E-models hobby store. One of them is the GWH FW 198A1/A-2 Night Jaeger or ski-plane in 1:48. German, Bulgarian and Hungarian insignia. I guess it's interesting for many modelers here:

Building the "Do Not Touch" 190 as we speak. Decals from a different source though. Most of the fuselage markings will be slightly over-sprayed
