A B-24 update, the file in message 41 misidentifies 57 B-24J-401-CF as block 40, they were 57 J-1 knock downs made by Ford and assembled Fort Worth, built in parallel with the last of the J-45, all of the J-50 and J-55 and the first of the J-60 acceptances. Updated file attached.

Jettison/drop tanks made by Britain from December 1943 onwards. A request for some of the figures meant a tidy up was done and it now looks presentable, hopefully without typos.

Good Grief! That is a LOT of droptanks! You can see some of the ways that droptank production matched the needs for campaigns.

This is actually more a request for help and expecting the P-38 spreadsheet to need revision. This is because while every reference agrees about how many F-4 and F-5 were built they all disagree about how many P-38 and/or of what version were converted to F-5. Looking for a P-38 expert or at least enthusiast.

In the spreadsheet the airframes modified to F-5 in 1942/early 1943 have not been traced, they do not reconcile with known F-5 production. In particular no trace of the aircraft reported at Brownsville (Taking actual F-5 production?). While the later aircraft cards and delivery logs are quite explicit in mentioning modification centres, the early cards do not.
