News coming in that Russia has blown up a dam at Nova Kakhovka. There are concerns that it might cause issues for the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, not to mention causing downstream flooding that will be a major distraction for Kyiv.

EDIT: Sorry…just saw others had already posted this. The BBC has a live updating thread on the topic.

I second that. Notice we are talking old Hornets here, not the newer superhornets.

However that should only be the start ... Canada, Finland, Spain should follow pace, all of them have some F-18 that are about to be retired soon.

Russians started to publish "evidence" of destroyed leopards. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

These russian assholes try to kill even more civilians - not only are they trying to drown them but now they started shelling the evacuation parties in Kherson.
This dumb action with blowing up the dam actually cut off Crimea from its only fresh water supply so they give a shit about what they claim is their own population.

Its a panic reaction.
1 try to make terrain inpassible
2 make shore comming management does not have the benefits

Both mean you are in trouble.
I was going to say that this whole dam thing smacks of panic on the Russian side. An immediate reaction to prevent the Ukrainians from being able to cross the dam or river downstream without any thoughts of other consequences.

Confirmation that it was the Russians ;)

"We strongly reject the accusation of blowing up the Kakhovka HPP. This was a deliberate sabotage by Kyiv. One of its goals is to deprive Crimea of water, the supply of water to the North Crimean Canal is reduced," Russian Press Secretary Peskov said.

Putin doesn't care about protecting the water supply to Crimea - I'm surprised the Ukrainians hadn't already cut that off. What the Russian military likely thought was that the Ukrainians were about to launch a major offensive with crossings of the Dnipro river, and figured making the river much wider would hinder those plans.

Though there's also the possibility that this was strutural collapse from earlier damage. Were there any reports of a massive explosion yesterday?

Beware of circulating vids claiming to show the dam destruction by explosives, those are from 11/22 showing the russians blowing up the road/rail connection
It is possible the dam broke because of structural failure, raising the water levels to a record high by the russians did not really help with an already structually weakened dam.
