My wife and have been discussing the Prigozhin/Defense Ministry/Putin/Wagner issue and WE think it is all about money. Evidently the bill for Wagner in this war is 250 million USD a month. And Russia can't afford to pay that anymore. Or refuse to pay it anymore. So the events over the past few days my be an elaborate ruse to get out of this situation. Even the loss of aircraft could have been staged.

Jim
Just follow the money?

very plausible.
Provoke a response - the air attacks on Wagner - allow the Wagner actions to be publicized, and condemned. - place him where will be useful - on ice STS - and 'nationalize his Russian Forces. Wagner Overseas he runs from Belorussia.
No debt - the company has been 'nationalized'.
Wagner OVERSEAS remains a business that provides deniability and shock and awe SWAT interventions.
Best of the bad .... deal, not troops.
UPDATE: He has now been asked to "train' the Belorussian Army. [1.7.23]

How to end Russia's war on Ukraine

This multi-author report takes nine commonly espoused ideas for quick fixes or objections to bolstering assistance to Ukraine, and weighs them against both current reality and their long-term consequences. The unanimous conclusion of the authors is that the only outcome to the war that can safeguard the future security of Europe is a convincing Ukrainian victory – hence, Western military support to Kyiv should be redoubled before it is too late.

Good article. Very hawkish and supportive of Ukraine.

Nah...Misha is a term of endearment and has no mocking connotations.

How about Kremlin Karl? Karl certainly has the mocking element to it (apologies to all Forum members named Karl).
Kremlin Karen?

Every neighborhood does have its Karen getting in everyone's business afterall.
