Is Twitter currently broken for you too? Accessing from Germany I just get kicked back to a login site.
It feels like being cut off from Ukraine news
Same here in the US. Been like that all day so far. I don't have a Twitter account and don't really want to have to create one to see the latest Ukraine developments. I'm hoping that there isn't a new policy requiring an account to view the user pages of interest.

A small sign that Putin is in more than a little trouble. It has been announced that the army are getting a 10.5% pay rise, much higher than the rest of the population.
Outside of PMCs like Wagner, isn't the Russian army made up of almost entirely conscripts? Who would volunteer for the grinder in Ukraine? If so, what does the pay matter?

Looks like Elon needs more users for Twitter

There are lots of area's of Russia where people live in abject poverty. There will always be people willing to sign up from those area's.

Additionally, while private soldiers are conscripts, my understanding is that NCOs and officers are volunteers.

Perhaps she could be of some use as a hostage.

Yabut who wants to save her?

Take them hostage too.
She is obviously there to help bring attention to a serious issue that will have to be addressed in the future - that of the environmental consequences of the war and what will be required in the future. I know some people feel threatened by her but she is well recognised globally for her environmental activism which helps bring appropriate focus to this issue. Comments such as those above are just pathetic.

Interesting. I didn't think the Russians had NCOs. You did what you're told, no thinking. In that light, what good is a sergeant or corporal?

They do, it's just a much smaller corps than Western armies maintain, and with different levels of responsibility and authority. They're apparently used to control hazing amongst the conscripts.

Russia's armed forces do contain NCOs, but they fail to hold the same responsibilities that their western counterparts do. Russian NCOs do not dictate the tactical decisions of their units, nor discipline or motivate the troops. Instead, higher-ranking officers assume control of everything. The result is that units are inflexible, chains of command vulnerable, and troop morale low.

Unsurprising given Lula position leaning towards Moscow.

I don't know why leftist goverments think that a proPutin or neutral view in this war is ok.
